The Chronicles of Maplewing

MEC began simply as an old run-down barn where I (Sarah) spent
my childhood. When I was very young, my grandfather kept his draft
horse Billy in the barn, along with a few cows and barn cats. I
remember Billy as being my only friend when my parents would yell.
After Billy died at the age of twenty nine (I was twelve) my grand-
father gave up farming and we moved. Before he died, I told Billy
that someday I would grow up and own a stable where I would
keep lots of horses, and I would call it Maplewing, because
Billy loved to eat maple syrup that my mother would bring to him
every Sunday.

After many years, I bought my family's old homestead, and converted
the old barn to a fabulous new equestrian facility. We now have
many horses, 2 barns, luxurious pastures, and lovely rings and arenas.
It is thanks to Billy that my childhood dream came true; whenever
I felt discouraged, I remember Billy's enthusiasm for work, in
whatever weather, just to please my grandfather.

Thank you, Billy.
