Welcome to Sarah's training page! Here you can find out all about
the methods in which I use to train various horses from show
jumping to barrel racing. I believe that every horse is different
and the rider should be able to adjust to every horse they sit on.
I usually spend about 2 weeks training the horse on my own,
teaching him the basics and movements that the discipline
requires. Then I ask the owner to come ride for the next 2
weeks so they can learn to advance along with their horse
and learn the techniques that have worked for me while I
was riding.

Methods of Training

I believe that a horse learns much faster and easier if they are
soft in the jaw. I usually begin a training session with lots of
exercises that get the horse to be soft and supple, stretching
over the poll and submissive to the rider. A relaxed horse is
one who does not evade the bit. Once he is relaxed, the real
training can begin, which I always try to make it fun for the
horse. That involves leaving his face alone as much as possible.

Charges

I usually charge $100 per horse, regardless of discipline or gender.
However, this is negotiable as always, for example if I owe you
a favour or we settle on an agreement. Please contact me for details.
